Today, we're giving our company headshots platform the brand identity it deserves. Studio Headshots is becoming Scale Headshots.
If you're an existing customer, the short version is: nothing about your experience is changing. Same platform, same service, same credits. Just a new name and a dedicated focus that's been a long time coming. If you're new here, keep reading for the full story.
How We Got Here
Snapbar started in 2012 as a photo activation company. For over a decade, we've built experiences and activations that help brands engage audiences at events, capture data, and generate content. More than 10,000 brands have used our platform!
Somewhere along the way, clients started asking a question we hadn't anticipated: "Can we use this for team headshots?"
It made sense. The virtual photo booth technology we'd developed already handled remote photo capture, AI enhancement, and branded delivery. The infrastructure was there. So we started building it out. What started as a response to client requests became a distinct product that grew steadily on its own, eventually turning into it's own dedicated platform.

The only problem? This growing product always lived under Snapbar's umbrella, and Snapbar is mostly known for our experiential marketing activations. Company headshots became a fundamentally different use case with different buyers, different sales cycles, and different success metrics. The headshots product needed more dedicated focus, a new brand identity, and the marketing attention it deserved.
Why Scale, and Why Now
Remote and hybrid work have become so normal, the need for scalable headshot management is growing rapidly. Not only that, but the cost of bringing in a traditional photography team and organizing photo sessions in increasingly complex and time consuming. Every company with distributed employees faces a problem we've heard a thousand times now: how do you maintain a consistent, professional visual identity across your entire team?
That's the problem Scale Headshots is built to solve.
This brings us to Helium Development, the engineering team we've partnered with for Scale Headshots' future. Snapbar and Helium are neighbors in Gig Harbor, Washington. The founders are brothers-in-law. Over the years, some Snapbar team members joined Helium, carrying deep knowledge of the product and the customers who use it. Helium builds products that serve thousands of Shopify merchants, so they're bringing strong infrastructure and scalability expertise to the headshots platform.
We have the market insight and customer relationships. They had the engineering depth. And we happened to be next door. That kind of partnership is hard to manufacture, and it's a big part of why we're confident in this next chapter.
What's Not Changing
If you're a current customer, here's what matters most: your experience is staying the same.
- Your account, credits, and team setup are exactly where you left them
- The dashboard and login process remain the same
- SSO and authentication are unaffected
- All your existing styles, contacts, and submissions are preserved
The same teams are building and supporting the product, albeit with a more focused, more ambitious vision. So the 'name on the door' is changing, but the product and incredible service behind it are not.
What's Been Released
The product has been and will continue to evolve. A few highlights from recent months:
- Team and user management. Owners can now manage team names, roles, and membership directly in the dashboard. Any user can spin up new teams with built-in controls.
- A growing REST API. Filter submissions by contact, email, or date range. Filter contacts by creation date. Improved rate limiting and cursor handling for integrations. This is the "headshot infrastructure" vision coming to life: connect Scale to your HRIS, CRM, onboarding systems, or badge printers.
- New AI enhancement options. The most advanced image enhancement models are now available at the studio level, including standard correction, upscaling and enhancement, and a generative option powered by the latest models.
- Redesigned style management. A rebuilt interface for managing headshot styles, with support for multiple style selection during onboarding and studio creation.

What's Ahead
Giving Scale Headshots its own identity means giving it a dedicated product roadmap. We're not going to over-promise here, but the direction is clear: more integrations, more automation, and more ways to deploy professional headshots across your organization.
The rebrand is just the starting point!
If you're an existing customer, thank you for being part of this journey. If you're new, we'd love to show you what we've built. Stay tuned for more details on the official launch.
