So, one of my favorite things about working at The SnapBar is getting to know all the best trends across industries.
And one of my favorites to research are wedding trends. Because, let’s be real, even though my wedding was a while ago (like, years and years 😱), I still LOVE looking at the pretty dresses and gorgeous venues.
So, if you, unlike me, are preparing for a real wedding and not just researching for work, you still have time to capitalize on some of the biggest wedding trends in 2019. And believe me, they’re pretty impressive and these trends are going to make your big day even more special!
A Royal Trend
First off, let’s talk about one of the most talked-about weddings in 2018...His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle’s nuptials. I mean, seriously, it was gorgeous and such a beautiful blend of both their families.

Wedding experts disagree with how exactly brides and grooms will follow in Harry and Meghan’s stylish wedding footsteps, but whether it’s flower arches, super simple makeup or that stunning off-the-shoulder dress, you won’t go wrong.
And, if you want to be reminded of how stunning this event was, check out The Knot’s article about it!
A 90s Trend
Alright, I know you’re probably tired of hearing it, but velvet is back in a big way. And even though my 90s-kid heart is singing for joy, I still haven’t pulled the trigger on my first new velvet piece in 20 years. When I do, it’ll probably be an overall dress because #nostalgia.
And it’s not just casual wear that’s bringing back the velvet. Some of the biggest, most posh weddings are using this plush tactile everywhere: bridesmaids dresses, place setting decor, jackets, shoes, bouquet ribbons… Seriously, the list goes on. Basically, you can’t go wrong with a rich, dark velvet piece (or 20).
Now, this trend comes with some controversy. One Fab Day says epic veils are going to be huge (I mean Priyanka Chopra did look fabulous in her wedding to Nick Jonas). While Etsy and Brides have observed that brides are going veil-less more and more (and Etsy has the research to back this up).
But my absolute favorite is what junebug has to say about bridal hats. As a bride who wore a veil and really shouldn’t have (it was my “something borrowed”), I LOVE the idea of brides wearing hats. It looks positively chic and boho and wonderful.
A Simple Trend
Speaking of boho, one thing just about all the bridal blogs can agree on is that boho is back in a big way. Simple, lacy dresses with gorgeous sleeves, rich, dark colors...the list goes on and we’re loving every moment of it.
Boho weddings also mean tons of flowers and greenery. Everywhere. And we’re totally on-board. Also, a boho wedding dress doesn’t just mean lace! That’s just one texture. For a fun, unique and classy vibe, consider a dress with feathers! (check out The SnapBar’s Pinterest for some fun ideas!)
A Cake Trend
While the simplicity of boho will be real in 2019, I’m really stoked for the elegant cakes that are coming to a wedding near you. The naked cake trend is a thing of the past (thank goodness) and we’re seeing stunning wedding cakes take center stage.
From painted cakes to fondant miracles, this age-old tradition is getting a facelift and I can’t wait to see brides and grooms put their own uniques twists on this trend. Like the one above from Honey Crumb Cake Studio in Seattle 😍
A Classic Trend
Photo experiences that bring everything together. (Did you think you could get out of a blog from The SnapBar without hearing about a photo booth, I mean, really.)
Whether you’re bringing the indoors outside, decorating your wedding with thousands of flowers or velveting everything, you want the experience of your special day remembered and the best way to do that is to have a photo booth!
The SnapBar’s selection of backdrops and print templates are constantly updated to make sure we have the latest styles. You can even add your monogram or wedding hashtag to prints if you'd like!
