Snapbar + TSU Culture Fest by BET

‍BET and Texas Southern University worked together to create an on-campus Culture Fest around the slogan “Where Black Culture Lives,” celebrating Black creators, entrepreneurs, and politicians. With less than a week before the event they discovered Snapbar Snapshot and the potential it added to connect people throughout the event both in-person and online. By white-labeling the virtual photo booth software and implementing in-person signage with QR codes they successfully engaged hundreds of students and participants with the digital experience.

The Solution

A very fast turnaround was the first challenge, but luckily at Snapbar we can work both quickly and flexibly with all of our customers. In less than a week, TSU and BET developed a custom landing page with lead capture that took people to the Snapshot photo booth experience, while Snapbar built a fully custom booth with unique frames that matched the event branding. One of the coolest and most unique aspects was that rather than automatically removing the background, like we often do, they defaulted to keeping the background to highlight the event and various photo opportunities with both individuals and groups, on and off-campus.

Results

By cleverly incorporating the Snapshot experience into event signage and messaging, TSU with BET engaged over 300 attendees, with over 90% of the participants submitting their custom photos to the event gallery. They also had 85% of Snapshot participants download their content, showing value in the end results and opening the door for future impact and reach via social sharing.

While last minute, the creative implementation made for a highly successful and engaging experience, highlighting the power of using web-based ‘virtual’ solutions for in-person events. Giving students the flexibility and access to express and share their engagement with the Culture Fest from the ease of a link-click or QR scan on their phone made it seamless and fun for the entire community to get involved resulting in some awesome content for BET and TSU.
