Medtronic is a big company - with over 90k global employees - and they wanted to create an inclusive virtual holiday program that not only gave everyone a chance to participate and connect, but also highlighted and celebrated the many locations employees are located. Their events team had previous experience with virtual photo booths and knew Snapshot could be a good option to achieve this, but their custom implementation utilizing a live display, and internal global promotion is what really made it successful.
The priority was global access and inclusion, while enabling employees to feel engaged and have some fun. It was a party after all. Medtronic did a few key things right. First, they promoted it internally and used the virtual photo booth experience as a core part of the event, brilliantly using custom text so people could highlight where they were tuning in from. Second, they used a live slideshow display so attendees could see new content populate in real-time, driving more participation as anyone could contribute their own snapshots with the scan of a QR code. Third, they not only created an engaging experience, but they encouraged employees to have viewing parties so while people were distributed all over the world, they could still get together in person in smaller groups to build camaraderie.
Medtronic was thrilled with the results of their virtual holiday program and Snapshot implementation, with over 1,500 engagements from 1,200+ employees across 28 states in the US, and 32 countries worldwide. Truly a global holiday party! In the end their employees created more Snapshots than they even expected, with over 500 pieces of unique content created showcasing their global workforce, where they were tuning in from, and of course a good amount of holiday cheer. Those that participated also downloaded their custom content about 50% of the time giving people keepsakes, and also promoting social sharing for some positive brand value, resulting in an estimated 35,000 organic impressions across LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
Overall, it was huge success for the company and team, and something they will look to repeat in the future.
